What do the x factor judges win
Although Nicole became a permanent judge in , it wasn't the first time she appeared on the show. She also appeared as a guest judge in at the auditions since Dannii Minogue and Cheryl weren't available and also appeared in the bootcamp and played a big part in putting One Direction together. She has even guest performed on the show before. When Kelly Rowland left after the eighth series, there was debate about who was going to be her replacement until Nicole permanently filled the role after her stint in The X Factor USA with Simon the previous year, which didn't go very well for her.
In her first year, she was assigned the Boys category, even though she was hoping for the Girls. Her category included controversial act Rylan Clark , who attracted criticism from the public and Gary Barlow.
Nevertheless, Nicole was able to gain popularity with the UK show viewers and make history by being the only judge to have all of her acts in the quarter-final.
Despite her success in the first year, she wasn't as lucky in her second year. She was finally assigned the Girls category in , which despite arguably being one of the strongest categories that year, Nicole was the first judge to lose all her acts when Tamera crashed out in the quarter-final even though Barlow would have been the first judge to lose all his acts if the result went to deadlock in week seven. Despite not having any acts in the final, Nicole was chosen to duet with Sam Bailey by her mentor Sharon, which contributed to Sam winning the series.
Although the duet was one of the strongest duets of the whole show, many people, including Louis and even Sam, accused Nicole of stealing the limelight from Sam, by taking the better notes of the song. Nicole didn't return for the series to focus on her music career. Fortunately, Nicole returned in and was assigned the Boys category once again. Though she wasn't able to make history she previously did with the same category in , she was able to get her second win when her final act Matt won the series.
The following year, for the first time on the UK series, she got the Over 28s category and her final act Kevin came 3rd behind Rak-Su and Grace Davies , who came 1st and 2nd respectively. She didn't return for the 15th series. Although not at the top, Nicole is one of the most passionate and funny judges when it comes to her acts and deserves to be ranked high. Sharon is a veteran judge and just like her fellow judge and close friend Louis Walsh , she is not afraid to tell it like it is and always prepared to bring humor and a bit of sass to the show.
In the first 3 years of the show when there were just 3 judges, Sharon was the only one not to win - Simon Cowell won the 1st and 3rd with Steve Brookstein and Leona Lewis respectively and Louis won the 2nd with Shayne Ward. The 4th season was absolutely the worst for Sharon when she was assigned the Girls category. She had 2 of her acts in the bottom 2 in the first live show, which caused her to walkout and her claiming that she was leaving the show.
Her final act, Alisha crashed out in the fifth live show, leaving Sharon without an act even in the quarter-final.
She also had an unfortunate tension with new judge Dannii Minogue , who she claimed only got the job because of her looks! She decided to leave after 4 seasons was replaced by Cheryl and has been a guest mentor for Louis at the Judges Houses stage in and When Sharon was announced as a replacement for Tulisa for the 10th series of the show, fans were rejoiced, not to mention the other judges as well. After previously never winning her previous seasons, Sharon finally became the winning mentor when mentoring the Over 25s category and her winning act was Sam Bailey.
She did leave again so she could leave on a high but returned for the 13th and 14th series where her both her final acts finished as runner-up in their respective season Saara for and Grace for For , she was originally supposed to just be present in the live shows, but decided not to have any part in the show - fans believe she clashed with Simon. In terms of mentoring, Sharon was good but never mentored a future successful star - her closest one was Sam Bailey, who is seen as one of the weakest winners.
Similar to Louis, she seems to enjoy controversial acts on the show - responsible for bringing Chico Slimani and Honey G to the live shows. Still, she is without question one of the most memorable judges of the show. One of them was creating a seat for a fourth judge when the s category was split into Boys and Girls. She was assigned the Boys category and got 2 of her boys - Leon and Rhydian Roberts into the final two, where Leon became the winner, although it was Rhydian, who despite finishing runner-up, was the favourite to win.
She became the first female winning mentor Despite having a successful first year, she had tensions with Sharon Osbourne , who claimed that Dannii only got the job because of her looks. It didn't help that during the same year, Dannii was having a secret affair with Simon Cowell. For the fifth series, Sharon quit the show and confessed Dannii was one the factors why.
Nevertheless, it didn't bother Dannii much, especially since she got along with her replacement Cheryl much better. Like Simon, she wanted the Girls category for her 2nd year but was instead assigned the Over 25s, which was the weakest category that year.
During that year, she clashed with one of her acts, Rachel Hylton , who accused her of not picking the right songs for her. Even celebrities like Ronan Keating , Noel Gallagher and Graham Norton criticised her mentoring, particularly for Rachel, who many people, including Simon, saw as a possible candidate of winning the entire show.
In the week Rachel was voted out, Dannii was brought down to tears by Louis Walsh , who accused her of stealing a song for Rachel, which he planned to give to his group JLS. It didn't help that her final act Ruth crashed out in the quarter-final although many would argue it should have been Eoghan Quigg , making Dannii the first judge to lose all her acts. Although Dannii admitted she didn't enjoy the fifth series, the fans still supported her and she returned for the sixth series.
She was assigned the Girls category and guided her final act Stacey Solomon to the final, where she placed 3rd. For her fourth series, Dannii was pregnant and missed the auditions and bootcamp but returned for the Judges Houses stage. Much to the ire of Simon and Louis, she was again assigned the Boys category which was the strongest category, alongside the Girls , despite missing half of the show. She was able to become the winning mentor again when her final act Matt won the series.
Dannii however didn't return for the eighth series due to her commitments to and scheduling conflicts with Australia's Got Talent and was replaced by Kelly Rowland. Although Dannii has been able to win the show twice out of her four years, her winners Leon and Matt went on to become 2 of the show's most forgettable winners - both were snubbed when The X Factor was celebrating its 10th anniversary in , alongside Steve Brookstein who won the 1st series in the Over 25s category; mentored by Simon.
Dannii's most triumphant act is Stacey, who went on to have a very successful career as a TV presenter. However, she continued her judging career on The X Factor Australia for the Australian series , Australian series , and Australian series but declined to return for the UK series to replace Kelly. She also declined to return as a judge on the UK show for the UK series to replace Nicole Scherzinger and decided to remain on the Australian show for the Australian series instead, despite popular demand in the UK for her to return to the UK show in and Like that was going to be any doubt who would be on top!
Out of all the judges, Simon has the biggest winning history - won 4 times in his 12 years of X Factor UK with Steve, Leona, Ben and Rak-Su, although it was Leona who actually went on to become one of the few winners to become international stars.
He also mentored acts like Olly and One Direction, who despite not winning their respective seasons, went on to have successful international careers. He returned in after Gary's departure and the cancellation of the USA show.
Simon is also the only judge to mentor each category at least one year. Although he tends to do quite well in all of his years, his worst year was without question the twelfth series in In this series, he wanted to mentor the Girls category but instead was voted by the public to mentor the Over 26s which was the weakest category that year and his final act Anton was eliminated in the fourth week, leaving Simon without even an act in the quarter-final and the first time he went to the final without an act.
Nevertheless, when Simon is assigned a strong category, he can work his magic - out of his 12 years, he was the last judge to lose his first act 5 times.
They might be releasing Number 1 songs here, there and everywhere, but back in Little Mix won The X Factor and released 'Cannonball'. Nicole Scherzinger : , Rita Ora : Robbie WIlliams : Louis Tomlinson : The X Factor has had a number of different presenters over its 15 year series, but most popular is perhaps the legend that is Mr Dermot O'Leary.
Dermot O'Leary then took over the show in , presenting for six years before announcing he was quitting in Caroline Flack and Olly Murs took over for the series, before Dermot announced his return just one year later, presenting the show for the final two series.
