How does poliwag evolve into politoed

Poliwag is a rare sighting within Brawler's Cave. The best chance of encountering one is to surf the ponds within the cave, though they may be seen roaming the overworld there from time to time as well.

While Poliwag develops into Poliwhirl by merely hitting level 25, both of Poliwag's final evolutions require held items to evolve. Poliwhirl will transform into Poliwrath when it levels while holding a Waterstone. If traded with a King's Rock in its possession, Poliwhirl will evolve into Politoed instead. For trainers who don't raise them, Poliwrath is sometimes found within Brawler's cave as well, and trainers can sometimes spot Politoed wandering the Soothing Wetlands along with Poliwhirl.

The entire Poliwag family can also be seen taking on challengers in max raid dens within the Fields of Honor, Soothing Wetlands, or Courageous Caverns.

While both final stages are apt partners in battle, they offer slightly varied skill-sets. Politoed faces fewer type disadvantages, but Poliwrath boasts better all-round stats. A King's Rock is a held item that has the chance to cause the holder's moves to cause a Pokemon that's hit to flinch if hit first.

After obtaining this rare item, players should give the King's Rock to the Poliwhirl they wish to evolve. The next step however requires another player to pull off. The final step to getting a Politoed via evolution is to trade the Poliwhirl holding the King's Rock to another player. It can simply be traded back, but for many players, this may require a Nintendo Switch Online account considering current world conditions.

After the trade is complete, the Poliwhirl will evolve into Politoed. Politoed isn't the only Pokemon that can be obtained by trading with a King's Rock, as Slowking is another Pokemon that has the same evolution conditions. If players want a Poliwrath instead of a Politoed, players simply need to use a water stone on a Poliwhirl. Capture a Poliwag with a good rod around Route 6.
